When my husband separated from the military after 10 years and we moved back to Arizona with our 5 kids for his new career I felt a little empty. For the previous 10 years I had the title "Military Spouse". I loved that title! I belonged to a group of people that helped each other, lifted each other up in hard times and became family. I was scared to move back home where I'd never move, the scenery would never change and I'd be without my military family. I'd come to love change, making new friends and was really afraid of nothing ever changing again.
When we got here, we weren't entirely sure where we wanted to live so we decided to rent for a bit near family in Gilbert. After a year I decided things NOT changing was not so bad, and we decided to buy in the neighborhood we were renting in. The real estate agent that helped us in our rental was more than helpful anytime we needed him, so we gave him a call. The entire process was very exciting because we were buying a house that we would be remodeling on the bottom floor. We were installing new tile, baseboards, painting cabinets white, moving an island, tearing down a wall in the family room and making a staircase....we were making it our own. In the military we never owned a home longer than 3 years, or we were renting or living in 1950's base housing with cafeteria tile flooring. To finally make a house what WE wanted was really exciting. We picked out our flooring and met with contractors during escrow. Our ROCKSTAR agent was always there to let us in the house whenever we needed him. He made the whole process easy and even got excited with us as we picked out what we wanted for our home, making suggestions and helping in any way we needed. By the end of the process he became a good friend to our family. I realized during the process that my agent has THE BEST JOB EVER! I wanted his job! I loved the idea of belonging to a group where I could make new friends and be excited for them as they closed and opened chapters in their own lives. Becoming a Real Estate Agent brought that military spouse feeling back into my life. I now belong to a team that has become a family. They are helping me navigate this ever-changing world of real estate and I'm making new friends daily. I'm grateful that certain chapters close, so that others can open.
