New Years Resolutions Mid Month Rejuvenation

I did it!  This year I actually put pen to paper and wrote down my New Year’s resolutions.  I am trying something different this year in hopes that seeing them written on nice paper and posted at my desk everyday will keep me focused on them.  I’ve learned to not go overboard and keep them simple; actually attainable but they still push myself to go further than my norm.

If you’re like me, life takes over by February or so and the resolutions get pushed to the back of my brain.  So already by mid-January I was feeling like I needed a refresh.  One of my personal goals this year is to get back to exercising at least 3x per week.  I get bored quickly so I plan to try something new every month.  First up: Barre sculpting class.

Until yesterday I had never taken a barre class out of pure intimidation.  I am NOT a dancer nor am I coordinated in that sense and my understanding of the class was that it was derived from ballet.  So I was skeptical of my abilities in this class.  Let me tell you, you do not need to have a dancing background for this class.  I was feeling the burn within the first 5 minutes (granted, I haven’t consistently worked out in over 6 months) and the instructor was easy to follow.  The instructor was great at offering alterations to the routine to either intensify or lessen the move.  She continually encouraged participants to make the routine their own and do what was best for your own body.

Barre3 just opened their second location in the valley at The Shops at Hilton Village (Scottsdale & McDonald) in early January, a beautiful neighborhood close to the heart of Old Town Scottsdale.  Their classes are structured throughout the day and they even offer day care during some classes.  Classes are best reserved online to guarantee your spot.  The staff is so welcoming and make a great effort to get know and recognize their students and it is that welcome feeling along with the great workout will get me back through the door for more classes.  Thanks for the mid-January rejuvenation Barre3!!  Will I see any of you there soon?  #fitspiration #resolutions2016 #barre3
