Spirit Of The Livng Room
In 2004 when I was still living in Fairfield County Connecticut, a close friend of mine gave me this book for my birthday. She said that it reminded her of me. She loved my house. Whenever she walked in, she felt an energy of peace, contentment and love. WOW! Those were incredible words coming from a woman who wanted for nothing and lived in a neighborhood of multi-million dollar homes.
It told me that it’s not the structure one lives in, but how we fill it up …. fill it up with who we are and what we represent. I lived in that house for 14 years until I sold it and moved to Arizona in 2006. Since then, I have lived in 3 houses and an apartment-- each one a little less expensive and a little less impressive than the one before. Remember the real estate downturn? However, each one had a warmth and eclectic glow of "home".
In Connecticut I practiced reflexology out of my family room and had many energy healers working in my house. I thought perhaps that was it, but I continued to hear feedback after moving to Arizona too. My kids told me several times that their friends often said how good they felt when they walked into our house-- so nice and comfortable.
I share this only to emphasize to home buyers/dwellers whether you live a in condo, or house… or garage for that matter, make your house your “home”. Don’t be afraid to express yourself!! There are regarded trends, ideas, and plenty of do’s and don’ts, but in the end you need to feel good in the space where you live. I won’t begin to mention the décor ideas I came up with that people absolutely turned their nose to. I did them anyway and received accolades from the very same people.
